As you’d expect in a game between the Jets and Predators it was a physical affair between these two rivals.
In the 3rd period of the contest on Friday night Adam Lowry was hit by Filip Forsberg with a solid bodycheck into the boards. As you can see below the Jets centre in the follow through Lowry’s stick connects with Forsberg’s head and the Nashville forward ended up on the ice.
Lowry was hit with a two-minute high sticking penalty (which the Jets killed off) and that appeared to be the extent of things as Winnipeg went on to win the game.
However today the Department of Player Safety tweeted:
“Winnipeg’s Adam Lowry will have a hearing today for High-sticking/Slashing Nashville’s Filip Forsberg.”
Result: They suspended Lowry two games Suspect this means we’ll be seeing Par Lindholm for the first time in a Jets uniform.
Here is the explanation from them:
Lowry has only been suspended once in his career (2014) when he hit Patrick Kaleta from behind but because that took place more than 18 months ago the Jets centre is not considered a repeat offender by the Department of Player Safety.
