It has been a tough 2019-20 season for the third-year pro out of Michigan State University. He began the season with the Jets playing in the team’s first nine games, was scratched from game 10 and 11 and was warming up ahead of the Heritage Classic in Regina back on October 26th when a pre-game injury would knock him from the next 19 games with a broken bone in his foot.
He has missed just over six weeks of the season but today the Jets announced he has been removed from injured reserve and the team has assigned him to the Manitoba Moose.
The Green Bay product split last season between the Jets and Moose.
Mason Appleton’s assignment is good news for the Moose who could use some scoring punch. And while you never want to be assigned when you are in the NHL it will be a good chance for Appleton, after being out for 6.5 weeks, to play lots of minutes.
