The Jets have been without second pairing, left side defenceman Dylan Samberg since he blocked a Steven Stamkos shot in Nashville back on November 23rd. The shot on the penalty kill broke his foot although that didn’t deter the Minnesotan from getting up and trying to block another shot on the PK.
Since that time he’s been progressing from working out to skating in a yellow, non-contact jersey which is where he’s been for the last little bit. While he’s looked good on the ice patience was being preached by the coaching staff of Winnipeg. On January 2nd head coach Scott Arniel said that Samberg was “on the horizon” and now we know that today is that day as the team has announced he is off injured reserve and ready to return to the lineup.
He missed a total of 21 games and the penalty kill has a big need for his return.
