From Minot, North Dakota the Jets have selected Zach Nehring. He’s a 6’3 right-shot winger playing with Shattuck St. Mary’s 18U Prep where he scored 39 goals added 46 assists for 85 points in 54 games.
He’s committed to Western Michigan University for 2024 and scheduled to play with Sioux Falls of the USHL next season.
Fun fact he played for the Winnipeg Jr. Jets in 2014-15 at the Brick Invitational.
Cory Pronman of the Athletic had this to say:
“Nehring is a big winger with good puck skills and scoring ability. He also is a big body who plays hard and doesn’t shy from using his large frame in physical play.”
Scott Wheeler of The Athletic had this to say:
“He plays a physical, engaged game off the puck and has some sneaky playmaking feel and vision on the puck. He can drive the net and fight to pounce on rebounds or get to tips … but he can also slow the game down.”
Brock Otten of Director of Scouting for McKeens Hockey had this to say:
“Zach Nehring was one of my favourite tier 2 guys this year. Big winger who is super athletic. Strong skater. North/South game. Solid upside as he fills out.”
