The NHL schedule was finally released today and Jets fans finally get a chance to check out the new Western Conference schedule in the newly named Central Division. The other division names are Pacific, Metropolitan and Atlantic.
Here are some of the highlights and dates to be aware of:
– Training Camp starts on Sept 11. First exhibition game is Sept 13. Season opens Oct 1. Olympic break Feb 9-25. Last day of season is Apr 13. Playoffs begin Apr 16.
– Jets play 12 Monday games, 14 Tuesday games, 4 Wednesday games, 14 Thursday games, 11 Friday games, 15 Saturday games and 12 Sunday games.
– Jets and Bombers will have a conflict on November 2nd. Jets play Hawks at 2pm. Bombers play Tiger Cats at 1 pm.
– Season opener is against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, October 1
– Home opener is against the LA Kings on Friday, October 4
– The first possible “Teemu game” would be the second home game of the season, on Sunday, October 6
– First visit by the Chicago Blackhawks is Saturday, November 2nd followed by the Detroit Red Wings on Monday, November 4th.
– Calgary Flames first visit to Winnipeg is on Monday, November 18th and the Vancouver Canucks first visit to Winnipeg is on Friday, January 31st.
