Will Brian Campbell’s contract situation determine Patrick Marleau’s fate?

From Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch:

Nothing new on the Patrick Marleau front. Again, I don’t think he’s going anywhere until the Sharks sign defenseman Brian Campbell. Once that happens, I think Marleau’s going to be traded, it’s just a matter of where.

Here is the entry from Puck-Rakers.

I have to agree with Portzline on this one. Campbell and Joe Thornton are very, very good friends, so I see the slick-skating defenseman signing an extension with the Sharks. As a result, the Sharks will probably want to dump some salary, and Marleau is the perfect candidate for a trade.
