The Toronto Maple Leafs – one of the NHL’s costliest ticket vendors – will host a free pre-season game Sept. 22 against the Buffalo Sabres for 20,000 people lucky enough to get ducats from the hockey club and sponsor Coca-Cola.
Yes, free Leaf hockey. At a cost of close to $2 million to stage. Famously tight-fisted owner Harold Ballard should be whirling in his grave right about now.
