Had the opportunity to take in tonight’s Red Wings vs. Coyotes game. Not surprisingly the Wings are certainly a different team without Hossa. It was nice to see Holmstrom back in the line up. Shane Doan loves to chat. At the end of a period or a play he can usually be seen chatting up the refs. Thought the Wings were going to steamroll the Coyotes as they scored quickly (1:18 into the 1st) but the tempo of the game slowed and they allowed the Coyotes to get back into it. Detroit fired off 43 shots but couldn’t finish off Phoenix until the end of OT. Great crowd for a Tuesday night against a 14th place team.
Here is a video I took of the Red Wings powerplay in the 3rd period which ends with Rafalski’s PPG and a roar from the 20,066 fans in attendance.
My Winnipeg Jets hat was underappreciated except by one hard core hockey fan. Has it really been that long? Alas I was unable to start a Go Jets Go chant. I expected to see a few Wpg jerseys but it appears I was the lone Manitoba resident at the game.
