Winnipeg Jets sign Captain Andrew Ladd to 5-year/$22 million deal

NHL Winnipeg:  Jets agree to terms with Andew LaddAlthough terms were not released, a good signing by the fledgling NHL franchiseAccording to TSN’s hockey insider Darren Dreger;

Ladd gets $4 mil next year and $4.5 mil for the remaining 4 years. Total. $22 million.

Instant Analysis: Good on Kevin Cheveldayoff and Craig Heisinger for finally getting Captain Ladd’s name in ink on a contract after weeks of negotiations. Ladd and his agent Mark Mackay could have filed for arbitration at 4 pm. CT today if they were unable to come to an agreement but lots of long hours obviously paid off here. The terms seem reasonable based on his age and offensive output last season but our Master Capologist Richard Pollock may disagree.
