Tortorella does not understand why teams are overlooking Mike Sullivan

From Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald:

“I listen to all the people talking about this coach, that coach, who’s coming in, who should be here,” Tortorella said. “Gosh, just look under your nose. Mike Sullivan I think is just a tremendous coach and an even better person. . . . And no one even thinks of him. That just boggles my mind.”

Tortorella does raise a good point with his comments. Sullivan would seem to be a very good candidate for a number of open head coaching positions in the NHL. If you look at the numbers provided by Harris in this article, Sullivan sure looks like he knows what he’s doing. With the experience of being a head coach in the NHL, plus being an assistant under a Stanley Cup champion coach like Tortorella, you think he’d be primed for his second head coaching gig in the NHL.
