The Canadian Press and The Sports Network are reporting that unrestricted free agent defenseman Ron Hainsey has signed with the Atlanta Thrashers for 5 years/$22.5 million dollars.

Here is a link to the article.

A nice signing for Atlanta, who could use a big, mobile defenseman like Hainsey to complement the likes of Niclas Havelid and Tobias Enstrom. With prospect Boris Valabik pencilled in to make the team next year, the Thrashers may finally have the defense corps that they have dreamed about for years.
