Thomas Milic stands tall as the Manitoba Moose clip the Laval Rocket in a shootout

The Moose are set to close out their final pair of games in Laval as they have been spending quite a bit of time on the road during this stretch.

Lineup news:

After losing another player (Elias Salomonsson) to the Jets the Moose recalled Ben Zloty up from the ECHL. He didn’t get his first game in antlers of the season as Dylan Anhorn got the call. We did see an AHL debut as prospect Jacob Julien played his first game in the American Hockey League.

Moose lineup:

Lambert – Yager – Fagemo
Shaw – Gustafsson- Duehr
JAD– Julien – Di Giuseppe
Barlow-Ford-Chibrikov

Heinola – Barteaux
Anhorn– Clague
Sautner – Bauer

Milic

Notable:

Both teams scored once in the opening period of play with the Rocket getting one on 15 shots. Less than two minutes later the Moose tied it up with Dylan Anhorn getting his first of the season.

Thomas Milic, who was recently named an AHL All-Star, kept his team in this game making 26 saves on 27 shots, including this one, in the first 40 minutes of the game.

His counterpart, former Manitoba goalie Kaapo Kähkönen, also came up big for his Rocket team.

The penalty kill came up with a big stop with 2:15 left in the 3rd period. OT didn’t solve anything leading to a shootout.

Jets prospects Nikita Chibrikov scored with this silky move while Brad Lambert ended it using his speed as an asset.

Winnipeg goalie prospect Thomas Milic made two of three stops in the shootout including this one. He made 34 saves on 35 shots in first game since he was named an AHL All-Star.

Manitoba improves to 18-14-3 on the season which keeps them close to Chicago for 2nd in the Central. They are 3-0 in the shootout this season.

Multi-point game:

None.
