Best in west Winnipeg Jets defeat best in east Washington Capitals 3-2 in OT to punch playoff ticket

With the win over the best team in the east the Winnipeg Jets become the first team in the west to punch their ticket to the playoffs as they defeat the Capitals 2-1. Jets now have a 49-19-4 record which gives them 102 points and put them one point back of the Capitals for 1st overall in the NHL.

Notable:

Josh Morrissey tied his second best career high for goals with his 12th which opened the scoring for the Jets.

After going 12 games without a goal Mason Appleton scored an important one with time winding down in the middle frame. With the secondary assist Cole Perfetti got to the 30 assist mark for the first time in his career.

After Alex Ovechkin tied the game with 4 minutes left in the 3rd the game required OT.

Nikolaj Ehlers with a rocket to win it. That was his 24th of the season. That was a heck of a bank pass by Dylan Samberg. The Minnesotan set a career high for points with 19 (6G 13A). He had matched his high in 30 fewer games than last year.
