I’m on my way to coach a hockey tournament, so I’m just going to pass along today’s must-read stories:

  • The Bruins eventually have to address the need for size at center, writes Kevin Paul Dupont in his weekly Hockey Notes column.
  • In his Inside the NHL column, Bucky Gleason still sees bright things ahead for the Sabres.
  • Terry Frei tells us that the Avalanche have not kept up with the other teams that were also dominant pre-lockout.
  • The Blue Jackets have two things other teams won’t want to have to face in the playoffs: 1. Steve Mason and 2. Size.
  • Michael Russo explains what sets Martin Brodeur apart from every other NHL goaltender.
  • Mike Comrie and Chris Campoli are both happy to be in Ottawa but won’t say anything bad about the Islanders organization.
  • Larry Brooks wants to see a different lottery system for the NHL.  Brooks also guarantees Lecavalier to the Habs at the draft.
  • John MacKinnon of the Edmonton Journal comes to the defense of Dave Staples for the Jagr rumors he originally reported.
