Sunday Morning NHL Papers (Eastern Conference): NHL needs to crack down on equipment, the Leafs are on pace for 50 points and the Devils haven’t loss in November

Atlantic Division

• Jacques Lemaire has his hand on the pulse of the Devils squad and it is paying off with the team winning its eighth straight game last night.  That means the team hasn’t lost in November.
• The Islanders took last night’s contest versus Florida into a shootut, but is wasn’t enough, writes Katie Strang.  Matt Moulson has been a pleasant surprise on the Island, read more about his story here.
• Henrik Lundqvist is the main reason the Rangers won on Saturday.  In his Sunday Slap Shots column, Larry Brooks has advice for the NHLPA.
• The Flyers only brought their “A” game in the third period of last night’s game against Buffalo and that just wasn’t enough.  Flyers fans have been pleasantly surprised by the play of Daniel Carcillo.
• Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes about last night’s Penguins/Bruins game and attempts to put the craziness into perspective.  Chris Kunitz will miss the next two weeks of action with an undisclosed injury.  Who are the most memorable players to wear numbers 1-15 for the Penguins?  Here is the latest Penguins news from Wilkes-Barre.

Northeast Division

• In his Sunday Hockey Notes column, Kevin Paul Dupont says the NHL has to do something about this equipment.  Last night’s Bruins loss was of the heartbreak variety.  In injury news, Marc Savard is hoping to be back at practice next week.
• The Sabres could have packed it in last night but instead the team came out and recorded an impressive victory at Philadelphia.  Sabres youngster Tyler Ennis had an adventurous day which led to his first NHL goal.
• Carey Price was sensational for Les Habitants but the team didn’t compete, writes Pat Hickey.  Brian Gionta didn’t play last night for Montreal because of an unspecified injury.
• “If we continue to play like that, the wins will come,” said Senators coach Cory Clouston after his team’s home shootout loss to the Rangers.
• Kevin McGran cites a number of stats which will make you understand why the Leafs have been so bad this season.  Did you know the Leafs are on pace for 50 points this season?  At least Carl Gunnarsson was impressive in his debut.

Southeast Division

• Nikolai Antropov has been getting some tips from coach John Anderson on how to increase his goal total.
• “I’m sorry this has turned out the way it has,” said Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford in an interview about his team’s long losing skid.  At least Tuomo Ruutu is back to playing his game.
• It wasn’t ideal, but the Panthers will take any win they can get.  Meanwhile, David Booth is going to, once again, miss a chance to play in his home state of Michigan next week.
• The Bolts were furious that their overtime marker didn’t count last night.  In Tampa Bay, David Hale is just the kind of player Rick Tocchet wants on his team.  If the Bolts want to get better, the team will need more balanced scoring.
• The Devils have the Capitals’ number and that was evident again last night, writes Corey Masisak.
