The Panthers placed veteran forward Jozef Stumpel on unconditional waivers
today. If he clears them by noon tommorrow and no team has claimed him, the
Panthers likely would buy out the final year of Stumpel’s contract.

The veteran Stumpel always seems to be on the mend. I don’t foresee any team putting in a claim for him on waivers; thus, he will most likely be bought out of the final year of his current deal. If Stumpel hits the market, I don’t see him generating very much interest. Although I’m sure a few teams will put in the call to his agent to see if he is interested in a cheap one-year deal.
