The Moose split their series last weekend with the Wild and were looking to kick off this two-gamer off on the right skate with a Texas team that was just two points back of them in the central division.
Jets 2022 1st rounder Brad Lambert, who missed both games last week due to illness, just resumed skating today so he wasn’t in the lineup. Additionally as per Daniel Fink forward Alex Limoges is dealing with an injury.
Moose lineup:
Malott-Lucius-Eyssimont
Polei-Maier-Jones
Bongiovanni-Meireles-Stenlund
Torgersson-Nikkanen-Reichel
Heinola Lundmark
Chisholm Gawanke
Sautner Stewart
Holm
Salminen
Notable:
After the Moose went down a goal the pride of Portage la Prairie Dean Stewart unloaded this blast to tie the game which was his first of the season.
Some inconsistent play gave the visitors a 3-1 lead after 20 and meant Arvid Holm was pulled to start the second period in favour of Oskari Salminen.
The middle frame was almost all Texas as they added a second power play goal to essentially seal the deal before 40 minutes had elapsed.
Manitoba tried to push back in the final frame but it was too little, too late.
Moose slip to 5-2-1-0 on the season although they remain in 1st place as they have a higher winning percentage over the Stars. Battle for 1st place in the re-match.
