Stars draw first blood taking Game 1 over the Jets 3-2 courtesy of a Mikko Rantanen hat trick

First home loss for the Jets in the playoffs as Mikko Rantanen strikes three times in the middle frame for the Stars which was enough for the visitors to take it. Dallas defeats Winnipeg 3-2 to take 1-0 series lead.

Notable:

The crowd in Winnipeg cheered for Mark Scheifele for being the last player on the ice. Of course this is because he’s healthy enough to play and also with a lack of shenanigans.

Don Cherry always said the backhand was the hardest shot to stop. Nino Niederrieter proved that to be accurate as he opens the scoring and gets the Winnipeg Whiteout crowd to their feet. And what a stretch pass by Haydn Fleury. 1-0 Jets early in the middle frame.

Mikko Rantanen scored not one, not two but three straight to give his team a 3-1 lead courtesy of his natural hat trick.

Less than a minute after the third Dallas goal it was Jets centre Mark Scheifele who says ‘But don’t go anywhere’ as he buried this pass from Gabriel Vilardi to make it a one goal deficit for the Jets.

Jets came close but Dylan Samberg doesn’t get the pass clean and cannot one-time it. With time winding down the Stars maintained their lead including this ridiculous stop.
