Squandered games in hand keep Manitoba Moose in place after 4-1 loss to Toronto Marlies

The Moose left Manitoba with a 1-3-0 record including two straight losses. This team has squandered their games in hand on the Stars and Admirals which has left them smack dab in the middle of their two Central Division rivals rather than out in front of them.

Lineup news:

Jets prospect Alfons Freij out due to illness as per play-by-play voice Daniel Fink. Still no David Gustafsson who is dealing with an injury. Tyrel Bauer misses his second straight game after his big tilt last Saturday. Sean Larochelle makes his pro debut.

Moose lineup:

JAD-Zhilkin-Fagemo
Di Giuseppe-Ford-Barlow
Yoder-Yager-Chibrikov
Shaw-Julien-Duehr

Sautner-Anhorn
Phillips-Larochelle
Clague-Barteaux

Milic

Notable:

At one point the Moose had the 2nd best road penalty kill in the entire AHL. Now they’ve slid down to 11th on the road. This evening in Toronto was no different as the Moose gave up another power play goal as the PK has become porous.

Manitoba did outshoot Toronto 13-4 in the 1st but found themselves down 1-0 after 20.

Just past the five minute mark of the middle frame the Marlies took a 2-0 lead. Former Moose Logan Shaw became the Marlies all-time points leader with the assist on the second goal for Toronto.

Just the way it’s going right now for the Moose as they screen their own goalie and the Marlies make it 3-0.

Moose get one early in the 3rd to get within two. Isaak Phillips gets his 9th of the season as a trio of Ontario kids get Manitoba on the board. Assists to Colby Barlow and Phil Di Giuseppe.

That’s all she wrote as Thomas Milic gets the hook giving up his fourth goal on the 13th shot of the game for the Marlies. Manitoba outshooting Toronto 27-13 but trail 4-1 in the 3rd.

Moose kick off the road trip with a 4-1 loss to the Marlies in Toronto. They’ve squandered an opportunity to catch the Stars in 3rd and even the Wolves in 2nd in the Central by virtue of their going 1-4-0 in last five games. They remain two back of Texas and three up on Milwaukee.
