An agent (not Mats Sundin’s or Brendan Shanahan’s) told me on background a few minutes ago that he believes the Rangers have suggested to Sundin that if he remains undecided by Tuesday, they will move on. Then the brass could offer Shanahan, 39, a one-year deal as camp formally opens. Haven’t confirmed, but the scenario makes some sense to me. How long can you wait? The first pre-season game is a week from Saturday.
