Saturday Headlines: Quarantine status of Winnipeg Jets Pierre-Luc Dubois discussed

It has been a week since the blockbuster trade between the Jets and Blue Jackets which sent Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic to Columbus for Pierre-Luc Dubois.  While Roslovic has already played for his new team and Laine has landed in Columbus and had a 48 hour quarantine with the expectation he plays on Tuesday against the Stars.

Here in Winnipeg Pierre-Luc Dubois was expected to sit for two weeks in quarantine as mandated by the Canadian government. He advised in a zoom availability this week that he is doing so in a house but obviously he isn’t able to skate during this time.

During the Saturday Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada insider Chris Johnston spoke about Dubois and his quarantine in Winnipeg.  Here is what he had to say:

“He and the Winnipeg Jets are waiting to find out when he might be able to leave from his quarantine. The Manitoba government is comfortable with Pierre-Luc Dubois being granted what was called a working quarantine for players during training camp which would allow him to skate in this upcoming week but the federal government has yet to weigh in on that matter. In the meantime all Dubois and the Jets can do is wait, but it makes a big difference on his availability. Obviously if he can get on the ice this week it would set him up to start about a week from now. If he doesn’t skate in that time, well then the timeline gets pushed back.”

Stay tuned.
