The Rush Hour Report will be bringing you daily updates around the dinner hour.

In today’s news:

  • As expected, the Ducks have suspended defenceman Scott Neidermayer. The move was made so Neidermayer’s $6.75 million contract for the upcoming season would not count against the team’s salary cap. The suspension was done purely for salary cap reasons and he will be reinstated if he decides to play this season.
  • The Hab’s highly touted goaltending prospect, Carey Price, has been very impressive at rookie camp and is hopeful to earn a spot on the NHL squad this season. If he does not make the team out of training camp, he will start for the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.
  • Washington Capitals owner, Ted Leonsis, boldly predicted that his team would make the playoffs this year.
