From Rich Hammond of the L.A. Daily News:

Rob Blake has signed with San Jose, apparently for one year and $5 million.
I’ve confirmed this with two sources close to the situation but the Sharks have
yet to release word of this.

Even though Southern California is beautfiul, clearly Blake was sick of losing. His move upstate to San Jose is a perfect fit. The big defenseman isn’t what he once was, as he’s lost some speed and doesn’t play as physically as he used to, but he is still a nice addition to the Sharks blueline. Blake is a good locker room presence, has great experience and can still quarterback a power play. Smart move by Doug Wilson.
