The good old interweb is heating up today for Jets news as Jim Toth of TSN 1290 Winnipeg first reported on the Big Show this morning that he was told by a source that both Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and coach Paul Maurice have been given contract extensions.
Hockey insider for TSN Darren Dreger then indicated that it is multi year extensions for the general manager and coach of the Winnipeg Jets. Dreger later added on twitter that he believed that the Cheveldayoff contract had been agreed to “months ago” but that the Maurice extension was more recently agreed to.
Both Cheveldayoff and Maurice were set to enter into the final year of their respective contracts with the Jets for the 2017-18 season. Kevin Cheveldayoff had been given a five year deal in 2011 which he saw extended in 2013 a further two years. Paul Maurice was given a four year contract extension in 2014.
