This is the time of year that college hockey programs are finishing up for the season and today Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reported that the Jets had signed defenceman Jonathan Kovacevic (their 2017 3rd round pick) to a two-year, two-way entry-level contract. The right shooting D man from Grimsby, Ontario has spent the last three seasons playing for Merrimack College (H-East) in the NCAA.
Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg confirmed the report and indicated that Kovacevic will sign an ATO to join the Manitoba Moose. This way his entry-level contract will not kick in until next season.
Update: Jets have made it official. He will join Moose to start his pro career.
