Pair of Winnipeg Jets prospects named to World Junior preliminary roster for Sweden

Not that far south from Winnipeg a pair of Jets prospects look to strut their stuff on the international stage with Alfons Freij (2024 2nd) and Sascha Boumedienne (2025 1st) having been named to the preliminary roster for Sweden this past Friday.

The tournament takes place in Minnesota this year with games getting underway on Boxing Day. Sweden will take on Canada in Kitchener (17th) and London (20th) of this month in a pair of pre-tournament games.

Sweden’s preliminary roster has 26 players listed so they’ll still need to make one cut.

Freij is playing over in the SHL in Sweden for Timra IK where he has two assists in 25 games while Boumedienne is playing at Boston University in the NCAA with two goals and four assists for six points in 17 games.
