On the Beat: Travis Zajac re-signs in Jersey and Hossa’s injury
Joffrey Lupul is giving back to the community. Always nice to see sports stars, who carry significant weight in their respective communities, giving back.
The Blackhawks apparently knew of Marian Hossa’s injury before signing him. Again, I didn’t like this deal before this news, and I like it a little bit less now.
The Blue Jackets are hoping to avoid an arbitration hearing with Marc Methot. Good policy if they can hack out a deal. Arbitration doesn’t serve anybody well and sometimes strains the relationship between the team and player beyond repair.
It is amazing to think Mike Modano has only missed two games over the past two seasons. Says a lot about his ability to stay in shape and stay dedicated to the game off the ice.
Travis Zajac has signed on with the Devils for four years. After a poor sophomore campaign, Zajac came back with a bang last season and clicked very well with former UND teammate Zach Parise on the team’s number one line. Expect that duo to form the top line in New Jersey for the next 5-10 years.
The Canucks made three quiet signings today. These signings should help the farm team in Manitoba after a number of the Moose’s core players signed elsewhere.
Capitals prospect Joe Finley threw down (literally) in Grand Forks. This kind of news never sits well with teams, but it especially doesn’t sit well when you aren’t exactly at the top of the prospect list.
