On the Beat: Rafalski out, Jack Adams nominees in and Ovechkin back on the ice

What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • No Brian Rafalski tonight for Detroit.  Big loss here, as that will require someone to eat those top four minutes up.
  • The Jack Adams nominees are outI’d rank them: 1. Murray, 2. Julien, 3. McLellan.
  • In Boston, Andrew Ference looks like he’ll return to the Bruins lineup for tonight’s game.  He’ll replace Shane Hnidy on the Bruins’ back-end.
  • Capitals lines from practice today.  Ovechkin back on the ice.
  • Some Caps/Penguins notes from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.  This series needs to start already.

Non-playoff teams:

  • Lindy Ruff only wishes he could bring Team Canada’s power play back with him to Buffalo.  50% rate is pretty insane.
  • Missed this yesterday, but Popeye Jones’s son has been drafted by the WHL’s Everett Silvertips.  You can only hope his son brings as much energy to pro sports as his dad.
