What beat writers are saying early this afternoon:

  • Here are the Thrashers’ forward lines from practice today. You can organize them however you wish, it is still an unimpressive group.
  • Here are the Flames’ lines heading into tonight’s contest with the Oilers.  Should be a fun game to watch.
  • The Canes and David Tanabe have reached a settlement and will cordially part ways.  Good to see this issue finally resolved.
  • Brian Rolston didn’t break his ankle, but there is a high sprain and he will miss Saturday’s game for versus the Capitals.  I’m sure the Devils are relieved.
  • Henrik Lundqvist gets the night off tonight, as the Rangers start Stephen Valiquette versus the Leafs.  Just getting “The King” a break against one of the league’s worst teams.
  • More line changes for the Bolts.  Melrose is trying anything to get the boys going.
  • Tom Poti (groin) is not expected to play tomorrow night for the Capitals.  It looks like the team will move Fedorov back to the blue line to take his place.
