What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • Hurricanes defenseman Joni Pitkanen (head) will play tonight against his former Philadelphia Flyers teammates.  The Canes will be missing Tim Gleason and Frantisek Kaberle for tonight’s game.
  • The Habs will dress the same roster tonight versus Detroit as they did in their 4-3 loss to the Islanders on Monday.  Can the Montreal media and fans stop blowing Ryan O’Byrne’s own-goal out of proportion.  It was one goal, in one game at an early juncture of the season.
  • Scott Clemmensen gets the start in goal tonight for the Devils.  They will look to make it five in a row.
  • Freddy Meyer IV returns to the Islanders line-up tonight.  Bruno Gervais checks out.
  • Here are the Capitals’ lines from practice this morning.  Still lots of injuries in the U.S. capital.
