What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • Brad May is certainly a good teammateHis presence in the room is one of the reasons he has lasted so long in the NHL.
  • Milan Lucic and Shane Hnidy won’t suit up tonight for Boston.  They need Lucic healthy for the stretch run, so no need to push it now when the Bruins have such an impressive won-loss record.
  • Michael Russo with more on a possible Nicklas Backstrom contract extension in Minnesota.  I think eventually the Wild will take care of their franchise netminder.
  • Jordan Staal has signed a four-year contract extension with the Penguins at apparently a $4 million cap hit per season.  Seems reasonable for both sides, as Staal hasn’t yet turned into the dominant player some envisioned.
  • Here are the Capitals lines from practice this morning.  Fedorov is back on the ice at practice.
