On the Beat: Jackets finally have depth down the middle and Predators needs certain things to go well

  • Luke Decock of the News & Observer encourages Canes fans to catch the team’s prospect camp if they are able to.  Decock makes some interesting points about watching the game in very pure form.
  • The Blue Jackets are finally looking solid down the middle heading into next season.  I really like Brassard and his ability to make things happen seemingly out of nowhere.  Vermette is a useful player, although I actually prefer him on the wing.  As for Pahlsson, he didn’t look very good last season (partly due to injury), so the Jackets are expecting him to regain his old form.
  • Mike Heika tells Stars fans that a Brad Richards trade is unlikelyThat trade is not gonna happen.
  • Everyone is making fun of the Oilers these days.  It is like the cool thing to do these days…
  • If the Predators are going to make the playoffs next season, they most likely need these things to happen, writes John Glennon.  I agree with John.  In addition, it wouldn’t hurt to have J.P. Dumont find the net a little more often.
  • Not surprisingly, Jeff Halpern thinks the Lightning could surprise people next season.  Good to see he has faith in his squad, but his comments aren’t a surprise.
