What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • J.S. Giguere has taken the lead as the starting netminder in the Western Conference All-Star voting.  As much as he is undeserving of the starting spot, it’d be nice to see him start the game in his home province just recently after losing his dad.
  • Here are the Bruins’ lines from practice today.  At the end of the day this team will miss Patrice Bergeron, even though he wasn’t performing like he had in past.
  • Daniel Ryder is in trouble with the Flames’ minor league affiliate in Vegas.  This story has remained hush hush somehow.
  • Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette provides readers with the link to Elliotte Friendman’s report on Alexei Kovalev for HNIC.  I’m going to watch this right now.
  • Pekka Rinne starts tonight for Nashville against Colorado.  No surprise after Dan Ellis’s struggles last night.
  • Here are the Capitals’ lines from practice today. Alzner injured.
