On the Beat: Flames interested in Gerber?

Thanks for Kyle for picking up the papers and, of course, a special Happy Birthday to the greatest hockey player of all-time.

Here’s what team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • Bucky Gleason marvels at the passion of Montreal hockey fans.  Doesn’t surprise me.
  • The Oilers don’t exactly have a lot of money available this off-season.  Lowe and Tambellini will be creative.  Plus, the team is banking on the development of its young players (Cogliano, Gagner) to make up for their inability to bring offense in from the outside.
  • The stars have gone home but Ryan O’Byrne is back in town for the Habs!  Who said the stars have gone home?
  • Do the Flames have an interest in Martin Gerber?  Get him into town before Miikka’s legs fall off.
  • Arguments for keeping Lecavalier from Damian Cristodero.  Rumors will continue so long as the Lightning are involved.
