What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • The Ducks certainly don’t lack leadership in the locker room, writes Dan Wood.  Scott Niedermayer, Ryan Getzlaf and Saku Koivu are three great leaders, just to name a few.
  • Tim Sassone says that now we know how much power Scotty Bowman has in Chicago.  He is running the show in Chicago, no matter what anyone says.
  • Stan Bowman comments on being named GM of the Hawks.  We’ll see how good of a job he does with how he handles the cap next summer.
  • Former Avalanche forward Ben Guite has signed on with Nashville.  Hard-working fourth line player who has good character.  Perfect fit in Nashville.  John Glennon hears good things about Guite.
  • Is Sergei Zubov headed somewhere other than DallasWe will see.  The Stars could use him, but a shift to a younger defense wouldn’t hurt either.
  • The Rangers have announced their pre-season scheduleWill Nikolai Zherdev be there for the opening of the pre-season? Not likely.
  • The Islanders are apparently done with free agency.  Let the young guys play.  Good decision by Snow.
  • Next season could be Czech free for the Penguins for the first time in a long time?  I just think it is a coincidence.
