• George Johnson of the Calgary Herald wonders why so many big-name players were on the sidelines last night in Winnipeg. I agree with Johnson.  The NHL should make sure that more big-name players are going to play in a city like Winnipeg that sees NHL (pre-season) hockey once a year.
  • Rod Brind’Amour was back on the ice for the Hurricanes this morning. If he got hit by a truck, he’d be at practice the next morning.
  • Nikita Filatov is back on the ice for the Blue Jackets. Great news for Jackets fans.
  • Valtteri Filppula (thumb) will be ready for action on Friday versus the Bruins.  The Wings are taking proper caution with Filppula.
