No conditioning loan required for Winnipeg Jets defenceman Logan Stanley

Last season the Jets sent Rasmus Kupari and David Gustafsson down to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL on conditioning stints after they suffered injuries during the 2023-24 campaign. A player has to agree to be sent down.

Two days ago Logan Stanley was on the ice with his teammates taking part in drills while wearing a yellow, non-contact uniform following surgery he had to deal with a meniscus issue back in late September. When we spoke with head coach Scott Arniel after that skate he was cautious in his timelines as, despite the Ontario product skating on his own, this was his first time taking part in drills with his teammates and there was concern he could stiffen up the next day. He was on the ice again on Wednesday taking part in the optional practice while remaining in the non-contact uniform.

Today as per Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press we learned that Stanley had shed the yellow jersey for a regular one that allows for him to take contact from his teammates. After skate head coach Scott Arniel told media that he isn’t planning on an AHL conditioning stint (which the player has to agree to) for Stanley like the organization did with Kupari and Gustafsson.

“No. Not really ’cause he’s been kinda going. He’s been on the ice quite a bit here. No it’s like he’s crazy distance there without playing. You can get enough reps here in the last couple days in practice. Conditioning will be the big thing and he seems to be in a good spot right now with that.”

Asked if he has a timeline the Jets bench boss did not saying

“That was the first day with the proper jersey. So the biggest thing is to see how he is tomorrow. When he wakes up in the morning. If there’s any discomfort. We”ll move on to the next day. We’ll just take it day-to-day from there.”
