From TSN:

A week after the New York Rangers walked away from Nikolai Zherdev’s salary arbitration ruling, making the forward a free agent, Zherdev has reportedly signed with a team in the Russian based KHL.

According to RDS.ca, Zherdev signed a deal with Salavatovo Yuleav Ufa, a team that also employees former NHL’ers Alexander Perezhogin and Alexander Radulov.

Read the story here.

No real surprise here.  When I broke down where Zherdev could end up last week, I prefaced the piece by saying “if Zherdev doesn’t sign in the KHL.”  This move makes sense for Zherdev as he will probably be more comfortable back home and will probably be making far more money than he would have in the NHL.  We may eventually see him back in North America, but I wouldn’t bet on that being anytime soon.
