  • Things are not looking good in Florida as the Panthers have laid off ten employees.  I always wonder why this happens.  You can opt against signing one $ 1.5 million defenseman, or you can get rid of ten people’s job who actually need the money to live on. 
  • Olaf Kolzig considered retiring before signing with Tampa Bay, writes Pierre LeBrun.  With the way Mike Smith is playing, Kolzig may not be used as much as initially anticipated.

  • Marty Turco has been bad, really bad, writes Allan Muir. He needs to get out of his current funk, and I’m sure the return of Sergei Zubov won’t hurt.
