**Once again, our condolences go out to Alexei Cherepanov and his family.  The news regarding his death was just horrible news.  Reading about what happened to the young man surely puts the game of hockey into its proper perspective. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.**

In other far less important news…

  • The Kings have claimed Kyle Quincey off waivers. I really like this move for the Kings.  Even without Jack Johnson’s injury last night, this team needed defensemen and Quincey is still young and is a solid player who can move the puck and skate quite well.  In Detroit, the Wings were loaded on the back-end, whereas in L.A. they need defensemen desperately.  Nice move and it doesn’t cost them anything either.
  • As mentioned above, Jack Johnson is out until at least January with a shoulder injury. Huge injury for a team that was going to rely on Johnson to play big minutes all season long.
  • EJ Hradek loves Wayne Gretzky’s fire behind the bench in Phoenix.  Wow, was Gretz worked up last night.  He sure hasn’t lost the competitive edge he had as a player.
