Nightly Hockey Hits: Jerry Moyes agrees to sell bankrupt Phoenix Coyotes to NHL, Don Cherry takes a shot at the Senators, making sense of NHL discipline, Oilers looking to Montreal for a trade?

Just a reminder that the guys will be interviewing Theo Fleury tomorrow at 5:30 PM live on The Great Canadian Talk Show on KICK FM. They will then replay the interview on Wednesday night’s radio show.

Here is the latest from across the blogging world:

  • The Hockey News:  Jerry Moyes agrees to sell bankrupt Phoenix Coyotes to NHL, deal needs approval. Looks like Mr. Moyes will sell in order to recover some of the massive losses he took from his purchase of the Yotes.
  • Fox Sports – Spector:  Keep an eye on Kopitar.  Since he plays all the way over on the west coast, perhaps that has allowed for him to develop without all the pressure to make his team an instant contender.
  • Puck Update:  Ducks future hinges on Giguere’s groin.  Looks like all those trade rumors will have to wait while it is determined if he is healthy.
  • Fear the Fin:  The defenceman cometh. I bet a lot of teams wished they had a 7-4-1 record with inconsistent defence.  Expect the Sharks to tighten things up on the back end.
  • Morning Skate:  King expected to miss 8-10 weeks with broken hand.  More bad news for the Blues.  Hope Paul Kariya is ready to start enforcing.
  • Mile High Hockey:  This might not be a fluke.  All those people who keep expecting the Avs to crumble at any minute are going to have to wait a bit longer as they continue to roll.
  • Lowetide:  Oilers looking to Montreal for a trade?  Some interesting possibilities.  Let the speculation begin
  • He Score, He Shoot:  Turn head, cough.  Perhaps this is just what the doctor ordered for the Leafs.
  • Black Aces:  Don Cherry takes a shot at Senators.   Oh Donald, when will you learn to love the team in our Nation’s capital?
  • In Lou We Trust:  Paul Martin’s and Jay Pandolfo’s importance to the Devils & who can fill in for them?  Terrible loss to New Jersey and man does it suck that they both happen at the same time.
  • A Clockwork Orange:  Flyers flirting with Shanahan…again?  Perhaps they can give Shanny a role of player/coach.
  • The Goose’s Roost:  Just eight games in, the Sabres have found the season’s signature moment.  Myers and Miller are going to be gigantic for Buffalo for years to come.
  • Globe on Hockey:  Stars prepare for Olympic audition.  Still can’t get over some of these superstars having to audition to make the team.
  • From the Rink:  Early season attendance trends in the NHL. While it is no shocker who the 30th place team is, they have been steadily improving, and we get some interesting facts in the comments section.
  • NHL Fanhouse:  Making sense of NHL discipline. I agree with Gretz, why should there be a get out of jail free card for a player’s first infraction
  • Fantasy Hockey Scouts:  Fivers for JP, Dusty & Alice… Bergeron sees three nets but hits the middle one… Halak heating up, Pavelec burned… Stamkos on his way… Listen to the cool stylings of Slippery Pete.  Ah Slippery PeteJay had this up a few days ago but my internet access was limited so I didn’t get a chance to post it.
  • Brodeur is a Fraud:  Cause or effect?  Good catch.  That was some zealous representation by Kesler’s agent.
