Here are the morning papers for Tuesday the 2nd of September:

  • Oilers first round pick Jordan Eberle is really looking forward to lacing up the skates for his first NHL training camp, writes Jason Hills of the Edmonton Sun.
  • Apparently the Leafs have to give up a draft choice in the Bryan McCabe trade to the Panthers. (Writer’s note: This team is trading away way too many draft choices for a team that is “rebuilding.”) Meanwhile, Mike Van Ryn is looking forward to the challenge of playing in Toronto.
  • With the pending McCabe trade, the Panthers will surprisingly be just below the salary cap ceiling this season.
  • Ed Moran of the Philadelphia Daily News admits he is disappointed that Eric Lindros won’t be at the Spectrum farewell game.
  • Brett Cyraglis of the NY Post does not understand why the Rangers won’t just sign Brendan Shanahan already.
