NHL Morning Papers (Thursday Edition)

Here are the morning papers for Thursday the 14th of August:

• While interviewing for the Islanders head coaching position, new coach Scott Gordon never looked at his lack of NHL coaching experience as a drawback, writes Katie Strang of Newsday.
• The Penguins will start breaking ground for their new arena today, writes Andrew Conte of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
• As Damian Cristodero explains, the Lightning is still trying to trade off some salary for drafts/prospects, but so far those efforts have not succeeded.
• Bryan McCabe has apparently waived his no trade clause, and there are rumors that he could end up in Florida, writes Paul Hunter of the Toronto Star.  Even if a trade does go down, do not expect it to happen for a couple of weeks.
• Andrew Raycroft is hoping to turn around his career in Colorado, writes Adrian Dater of the Denver Post.
• Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal tells readers that Glenn Anderson’s jersey retirement is set for January 18 when Gretzky and the Coyotes visit town.  Meanwhile, the Oilers are going to use their rookie tournament to get a good look at some prospects that they aren’t so sure about, writes Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun.
