NHL Morning Papers (Friday Edition)

• John Tortorella spoke his mind about the current Lightning ownership on Thursday in a radio interview.
• Former Wild winger Mark Parrish wants to play in the NHL again but he has yet to receive any offers, writes John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.  Meanwhile, Brent Burns had surgery on his elbow and is expecting to be out for the next four weeks, writes Michael Russo. • The Senators signed Brad Isbister on Thursday with hopes that he will make the big club.
• The Montreal fans and media continue to get on Saku Koivu for, well, ridiculous reasons, writes Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette.
• The Oilers have signed draft pick Jordan Bendfield to an entry-level contract.
• Having been there himself, Doug Gilmour understands the hard decision that Mats Sundin has to eventually make.  That said, it looks like Sundin is leaning towards retirement.
• With Pat Quinn being named coach of Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship, Ottawa fans can be on his side for once.
• No matter how well Jeff O’Neill plays, it still may be very difficult for him to crack the Hurricanes roster, writes Luke DeCock of the News & Observer.
• With some time and joking tear or two, Pavel Datsyuk has accepted the fact that he is not playing with Henrik Zetterberg to start next season.
• The Kings are now only three million dollars under the NHL’s salary cap floor with the team’s signing of Jarret Stoll on Thursday.
• The “Grim Reaper” has returned to Nashville to practice law.
• Louie DeBrusk has left the Coyotes organization to become a color commentator for the Edmonton Oilers on Rogers Sportsnet.
• The Province of Nova Scotia has honored Sidney Crosby.
• The Flyers are expecting Simon Gagne to be healthy and better than ever when the season starts in early October.  Meanwhile, Rich Hofmann has the history of Eric Lindros and his relationship with the Philadelphia fans.
• Rob Blake would not mind being five years younger, writes Mark Emmons of the Contra Costa Times.
• Alex Pieterangelo signed with the Blues yesterday and now he wants to crack the opening night roster, writes Jeremy Rutherford.
