NHL Morning Papers (Friday Edition)

Here are the morning papers for Friday the 15th of August:

• The opening day of Sabres’ training camp will be a semi-celebration, writes Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News.
• Two veteran Detroit News sports writers, who have covered the Wings for many years, have decided to call it a career.
• Dave Shoalts of the Globe & Mail confirms what we have all been hearing, that Bryan McCabe is on his way out of Toronto.  Former McCabe teammate Wade Belak is excited to welcome his soon to be new teammate to the fold.
• According to George Richards of the Miami Herald, the Leafs will be getting defenseman Mike Van Ryn in return.  Apparently there is another player from Toronto that is involved in the trade.
• Looks like the Predators may have to wait longer for an Alexander Radulov ruling, explains John Glennon of the Tennessean.  Apparently Radulov is not a big fan of the NHL and wants the league to “stopping robbing us.”
• Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News has details on the two-year contract extension coach John Stevens received.
• The Coyotes have signed Joel Perrault to a two-year deal, writes Jim Gintonio of the Arizona Republic.
• Mario Lemieux never had any plans to leave Pittsburgh, writes Jeremy Boren and Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
• As Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch tells us, the Blues are making an effort to sign Brendan Shanahan.
• The Capitals are finding out that they are one hot ticket.
• The Senators have signed Zack Smith, the team’s 3rd round pick in this past year’s draft, to an entry-level contract.
