Moose with another 3rd period comeback, dominating final frame to earn series split with Wild

The Moose started off the road trip with a big 5-0 win over the Wolves on Wednesday night. They followed that up with a 3-0 loss to the Wild and were looking to earn a split in the final game of this three-game road trip,

Only change from yesterday was in net as Winnipegger Isaac Poulter replaced Domenic DiVincentiis between the pipes.

It was a quick start for the visitors as Kale Clague wired this one home just 17 seconds into the game to give the Moose a 1-0 lead.

Shortly thereafter the Wild tied the game as Michael Milne, who spent quite a bit of time in Winnipeg with the Ice, tied it up on a quick counterstrike. And then shorthanded a poor pass by Kale Clague led to a turnover on the power play and then David Gustafsson, who is usually pretty reliable, plays this pretty poorly which gave the Wild the opportunity to take a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal.

Back on the power play this time the Moose were able to make the Wild pay as Phillip Di Giuseppe got his seventh goal of the season wiring home a shot on a pass from Kale Clague. Secondary assist to Jets prospect Brayden Yager.

Some bad news for the Moose in the middle frame as they lost Jets prospect Colby Barlow. He got tied up with Ryan Sandelin which looks like it caused a lower-body injury. He didn’t return to the game.

I don’t often say the Moose “deserve” a goal but they really did after this sequence. Manitoba had a ton of cracks at this one and eventually Kale Clague got his second of the game to tie it 3-3. Moose had a 10-0 shot advantage to start the 3rd.

Just 47 seconds after they tied the game the Moose took a 4-3 lead as Jaret Anderson-Dolan deflected a Ville Heinola pass. Ethan Frisch gets his first point in antlers. Tough circumstances for Iowa who lost goalie William Rousseau to injury on last goal. Manitoba had an 11-0 shot edge in 3rd.

At one point in the final frame the Moose held an 18-1 shot advantage.

A decidedly unfriendly bounce could have burnt the Moose but they got the puck cleared and won 4-3. Another 3rd period comeback from Manitoba who dominated the final frame to earn a split with Iowa.
