The Moose came into today’s first game of six at home feeling good about their game having won four straight and having gotten points in all five games they have played to start the 2022-23 season.
Moose lineup:
Malott-Lucius-Torgersson
Limoges-Harkins-Eyssimont
Polei-Maier-Jones
Bongiovanni-Stenlund-Meireles
Heinola Lundmark
Chisholm Gawanke
Sautner Bauer
Salminen
Holm
Notable:
Last season’s rookie of the year last year for the Moose Greg Meireles dressed for his first game of the season.
Not playing up front was Brad Lambert, Kristian Reichel and Henri Nikkanen. We were told after the game that Lamber is sick and was unavailable to play.
After giving up the opening goal of the contest the Moose struck back on the power play courtesy of Kevin Stenlund‘s third of the season.
Continue to see the creativity from Jets 2021 1st rounder Chaz Lucius to get himself time and space.
Alternate captain Cole Maier making the opposition pay for trying to get to the front of the net.
Two power play goals gave Iowa a 4-1 lead and that looked like it would just about do it.
But then for the fifth straight game Jansen Harkins scored to bring the Moose back into the game.
A nice stop by Wild goalie Zane McIntyre kept the visitors up by two.
A lack of urgency would do Manitoba in and the Wild snagged a loose puck and deposited it into the empty net to win it 5-2.
