The Moose came into tonight’s game having won four straight and looking to keep that rolling against a Canucks team that were also feeling good about their game having won four of five and were 8-2-0 in last ten.
Lineup news:
The only addition was Colin Bilek who was inserted into the lineup with Kristian Reichel recalled by the Jets.
Moose lineup:
Malott – Toninato – Limoges
Polei – Meireles – Jones
Torgersson – Nikkanen – Bilek
Bilek – Maier – Boland
Chisholm – Gawanke
Sautner – Stewart
Lundmark – Bauer
Holm
Salminen
Notable:
It was a memorable first AHL goal for Tyler Boland who opened the scoring for the Moose.
Sometimes you gotta be careful as Jets prospect Tyrel Bauer laid a good check in the neutral zone but it led to a 2 on 1 which was neatly saved by Moose netminder (and Jets goalie prospect) Arvid Holm.
While it was a forgettable middle frame for the Moose which saw them get outshot 13-7 and more importantly outscored 3-0, it could have been a tie game had alternate captain Cole Maier been able to get this puck past Arturs Silov.
With the netminder pulled the Moose were able to get back within one as Tyler Boland got his second AHL goal and second of the game but that was as close as it got.
The Moose were in process of pulling Arvid Holm when he had to rush back to make the stop from long range. But the Canucks got the rebound and found the back of the net to make it 4-2.
The Moose four-game win streak ends as they drop the first game of this two-game series 4-2 to the Canucks. They fall to 16-8-2-1 on the season. Re-match tomorrow to conclude 2022 in the New Year’s Eve classic.
