Notable:
With a good crowd on hand the Moose wanted to get this afternoon started off on the right skate and that’s just what they did when Cole Maier opened the scoring with a shorthanded marker a few minutes into the 1st.
Playing at home lets you learn the board bounces and Jets prospect Daniel Torgersson (2020 2nd) showed off that knowledge when he scored his second of the season burying a Leon Gawanke (2017 5th) shot off the backboards.
Then the special teams went to work for Manitoba as Leon Gawanke scored his sixth of the season.
Moose took a 3-0 lead into the 1st intermission which was when the Teddy Bear Toss took place.
Manitoba didn’t take foot off the gas to start the middle frame scoring just 24 seconds into the period courtesy of an Evan Polei goal and then less than a minute later Jeff Malott got his team leading 11th of the season right in his office during a 6 on 5 for the Moose during a delayed penalty call.
With the score 5-0 for the Moose you’d think they controlled the game but the Senators actually possessed the puck more in the middle frame and goalie Arvid Holm had to be good stopping 18 of 19 shots he faced in the 2nd.
Another early goal in the 3rd period by the Moose put the nail in this one as Jeff Malott added to his team leading goals with number 12 which was the result of some hard work by Dominic Toninato. Most importantly it won fans free pancakces.
Jets prospect Tyrel Bauer is quickly endearing himself to the Moose faithful. Another good tilt for the Alberta product. Think best part is the helmet toss at the end…..
Moose won it 6-2 and improve to 13-7-2-1
