The Moose are coming off a big 3rd period comeback win last night over the Griffins.
Lineup news:
Burgess and Egle swap spots but forwards remain the same as last night. Jimmy Oligny was scheduled to play but was a late scratch which meant Nelson Nogier remained in the lineup. Mikhail Berdin in net.
Moose lineup:
Burgess-Gustafsson-Poganski
Malott-Suess-Reichel
Eyssimont-Maier-Egle
Polei-Meireles-Caron
Chisholm – Gawanke
Samberg – Kovacevic
Nogier – Lundmark
Berdin
Holm
Noteworthy:
The Moose shot advantage from the 2nd and 3rd periods carried over into the 1st of tonight’s game as they started with a 5-1 advantage.
Jets 2019 2nd rounder Simon Lundmark left a mark with this hit.
The shot edge eventually got to 7-2 with the seventh shot being a goal for Haralds Egle to open the scoring with his first of the season.
They also scored on their eighth shot to make it 2-0 when Leon Gawanke wired a shot home. If you wanna talk about bounce back candidate for the Moose it would have to be Jets 2017 5th draft pick. He just matched his career high for goals with four (which he set in his rookie year) but did it in 25 fewer games. He leads the Moose D in scoring (4G 11A in 23GP).
Goalie Mikhail Berdin wasn’t super busy early in the 2nd period but did flash the leather a couple of times in the middle frame (here and here).
Best way to kill a penalty…score shorthanded which is just what Kristian Reichel does with this goal which was his fifth of the year. Good work by David Gustafsson to cause disruption. Turned out to be the game-winning goal.
Moose penalty kill continues to work well as they killed five power plays this evening including a 5 on 3 which lasted :42 seconds which moved them into the 2nd best PK in the AHL.
Chalk up another win for the Moose as they sweep the weekend series with the Griffins and improve to 15-7-1 on the season (2nd in Central). They’ve won six of last seven and are putting the Win in Winnipeg (9-2-0-0 at Canada Life).
